This term, our themes for learning are ‘Active Earth’ and ‘The Romans.” We will be exploring the structure of the Earth and find out what causes volcanoes and earthquakes. We will also be looking at The Romans and how they impacted Britain, as well as our home town of Chester!
Please see a more detailed overview of the learning in some areas of the wider curriculum. These knowledge organisers are shared with the children and provide parents with an opportunity to go through some of the key learning at home. In particular, we would ask that you support the children with their understanding of the key vocabulary for each curriculum area, as outlined in the knowledge organisers.
At Acresfield, we have 7 key principles that underpin our curriculum intent. Please open the following link:

Our school values are Respect, Resilience & Responsibility.
In our assemblies this term our British values will link to our school values of The Rule of Law and Tolerance for Others.
In class, our focus will be on the British values Individual Liberty and Tolerance of Those with Different Faiths and Beliefs. We will explore these values through our R.E. lessons in which we will study the religion of Islam and the ways that Muslims practise their religion. In our PSHCE lessons, we will be exploring human rights and identify languages and behaviours that conflict with our these rights.
One of the seven outcomes we would like from our curriculum is for the children to develop their understanding of what it means to live in a diverse society such as Britain. To support that this term, we will be studying the religion of Islam and how Muslims incorporate religious practice into their everyday lives. We will also be looking at different types of marriage in our PSHCE lessons.
